Each year, PYBS offers a Fall Baseball program for players who are entering the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.  We offer an instructional league that is focused on fundamentals, and game play.  We have an all new format this year that is briefly described below.  Also see deatils in the attached files:

This is a great way to continue with baseball, and learn new skills in the fall.

Minors Fall Ball
Incoming 3rd & 4th Graders (9 & 10 year olds)
Games on Saturdays
Program ID: 301010-01 - PYBS 3rd/4th Grade Fall Ball
Cost: $90.00/$113.00 (Res / Non-Res) 
The 2017 PYB/S fall ball will be a casual league available to all players. It will be a league for fun and instruction, no standings, no stats and a hard time limit cut off @ 1:45, finish the at bat, game over. Fall ball is FUN ball - ONE game per week at the same times, one practice per week again likely at the same time & day.
Practices will start around the 5th of August, and the league will end in mid-October. ~12 Week season with ~8 games & team practices, weather permitting. Teams will be formed around August 12th at the conclusion of the clinics for all participants.

New for 2017 is a clinic-based format, focused on teaching the fundamentals of the game to all program participants. Clinics will be voluntary, but lead by PYBS board members, coaches, and volunteers. Clinics will each focus on areas of the game, with defined drills and baseball instruction. 
Practices will start around August 5th, and the league will end in mid October following a 12 week season - 7 games, team practices, and a dozen clinic opportunities. Teams will be formed at the end of August at the conclusion of the initial clinics.

2018 Full-Time Travel Baseball Tryouts Updated 6/16/2017

2018 Full-Time Travel Baseball Tryouts

The Palatine Travel baseball program emphasizes development, while

successfully competing in major tournaments around the region. Teams are

able to practice on Palatine Park District fields, helping to make it a

convenient and affordable travel baseball program. Full time travel teams

will play roughly 40-50 games per season. The costs range from $750 to

$1,250 depending on levels of team fundraising. The fees include: umpires,

fields, uniforms, tournaments, and winter training facilities. The travel

season typically runs from January to middle of July.

Tryouts for the 2018 Full-Time Travel Program will be Wednesday, July 19 th and

Thursday, July 20 th at the below fields in Palatine.


5:15 registration - 5:30-7:00pm

 9U - to be eligible boys cannot turn 10 before May 1st

 10U - to be eligible boys cannot turn 11 before May 1st

6:45 registration - 7:00-8:30pm

 11U - to be eligible boys cannot turn 12 before May 1st

 12U - to be eligible boys cannot turn 13 before May 1st


5:15 registration - 5:30-7:00pm

 13U - to be eligible boys cannot turn 14 before May 1st

 14U - to be eligible boys cannot turn 15 before May 1 st

There is no charge to tryout. All players should bring cleats, mitt, baseball

pants and an athletic cup. Bat is optional.

On Wednesday all players will be evaluated by independent raters. Players

being called back for Thursday will be listed on the PYB Travelers website.

Post-Season Travel Lite Tryouts Moved to Sunday, May 7
Due to the heavy rain this weekend, the Post-Season Travel Lite tryouts have been post-poned to Sunday, May 7, at Oak field, 455 N. Clark Drive, Palatine, 60074.  Players should arrive in baseball attire (hat, shirt, baseball pants, belt, cleats, etc.). Below are the times by division.
  • 8U and 9U: 9:00-10:30am (check-in 8:45am
  • 10U and 11U: 11:00-12:30pm (check-in 10:45 am)
  • 12U: 1:00-2:30pm (check-in 12:45pm)
Travel Lite provides an opportunity for additional baseball each week. Practices and/or games will generally be held twice a week mainly on the PYB off days of Fridays and some Sundays. Games are held either against similar teams from neighboring towns or in tournaments that the team may enter.  The season runs from May through July.   
In no way will Travel Lite interfere with the House team schedule as House will always take precedence thus the Friday and/or Sunday practice/game schedule.  The cost of the Travel Lite program is $350, which covers uniforms and all tournament and umpire fees.

PYB/S Registration
Any registration received after February 22 will be charged a $25 processing fee.
Registration deadline March 3 - Pinto, Stallions, Mustangs, Bronco 5 & 6, and Division I & II
Registration deadline March 10 - T-Ball, Rookies, Future Stars, and Division III
New participants, 2nd grade or older are required to attend a mandatory players evaluation on Sunday, March 5.

League Information

The Palatine Youth Baseball & Softball (PYB/S) program is designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball & softball and sportsmanship to boys and girls ages 5 through 6th grade. Our program is run by over 100 volunteers and features the following for both baseball and softball:

• Full replica uniforms for all age groups
• Fair team and player selection
• Awards for all players
• Mandatory “at bats” and playing time
• Manager and coaches training clinics
• Playoffs, including Championship Games, for most leagues
• All-Star game for most leagues
• Travel Teams

Baseball Divisions
T-Ball (Boys & Girls) - 5 years old by 8/31/17
Rookies (Boys & Girls) – Kindergarten
Future Stars – 1st Grade
Pinto – 2nd Grade
Stallion – 3rd Grade
Mustang – 4th Grade
Bronco 5 – 5th Grade
Bronco 6 – 6th Grade

Softball Divisions
Division III - 1st & 2nd grade 
Division II - 3rd & 4th grade 
Division I - 5th & 6th grade 

The age cut off for five year olds is August 31, 2017. For all other leagues the appropriate league is based on their current grade in school.

Participants are assigned to teams in March. Games and practices begin mid-April and end in early July. The culmination of the season is the Palatine Youth Baseball/Softball Day held at Community Park, featuring league All-Star games, team and individual trophy presentations, and other entertainment.

PYB/S Refunds
Full refund before March 3, less $5 processing fee. After March 3, 50% refund, less $5 processing fee. No refunds after March 17.
