Travel Lite 2015 Updated 4/3/2015

Boys Post Season Travel enters into its 4th year within PYB/S as our "Travel Lite" program. The Travel Lite concept is to provide more of a true "travel" experience to those above average players in our house programs. We offer this as our response to the players and parents thirst for additional training and games at a higher level.

Travel Lite provides an opportunity for additional baseball each week. Practices and/or games will generally be held twice a week mainly on the PYB off days of Friday's and Sunday's. Games are held either against similiar teams from neighboring towns or in tournaments that the team may enter. We feel that this type of environment provides a teaching atmosphere at a higher level than house can provide without going to the extreme of a Full Time Travel schedule and commitment. Our goal is to provide to all the needs of the ball players in Palatine: House, Tavel Lite and Full Time Travel. PYB provides the lowest cost options around let alone the unmatched resources to learn this game beyond that of any other program in northern Illinois.

In NO way will Travel Lite interfere with the House teams schedule as House will ALWAYS take precedence thus the Friday evening and/or weekend practice/single game times. Managers and coaches at each age level are extremely aware and conscious of the education of arm health. These opportunities are meant to provide additional teaching mechanisms and not geared towards wearing out our young players. Arm heath will remain a priority.

We have found that playing in three to four tournaments and 10 to 14 single games as being the most successful. Game and practice schedules will be finalized by the manager of the respective Travel Lite team. The cost of the Travel Lite program is $350; this fee provides uniforms and all tournament and umpire fees.

If anyone has additional questions in regards to our philosophy here or any other questions, don't hesitate to let us know!

Sincerely

Brent Larson - VP Boys Baseball
Dave Carver - VP Boys Travel Baseball

Travel Lite Info Updated 4/23/2014

Boys Post Season Travel enters into its 3rd year within PYB/S rebranded as "Travel Lite". The concept is to provide more of a true "travel" experience to these above average players. We offer this as our response to the parents thirst for additional training at a higher level.

By getting the teams created a bit earlier, we are providing the venue for the teams to practice more than normal; usually a single additional practice a week, possibly twice (for example a Friday evening practice, Saturday or Sunday afternoon) as well as the capabilities of playing single games against the local towns on top of the tournament schedule that they enter into. We feel that this type of environment gives more of a teaching atmosphere at a higher level than house can provide which is what the parents and players are looking for without going to the extreme of a Full Time Travel schedule and commitment. We feel this creates something for everyone now in Palatine:  House, Post Season "Travel Lite" and Full Time Travel. We all know that our system provides the lowest cost options around let alone the unmatched resources to learn this game beyond that of any other program in northern Illinois.

In NO way will Travel Lite interfere with the House teams schedule as House will ALWAYS take precedence thus the Friday evening and/or weekend practice/single game times.  We are making the coaches at each age level extremely aware and conscious of the education of arm health. These opportunities are meant to provide additional teaching mechanisms and not geared towards wearing out our young players at all. Arm heath will remain a priority.

We are still suggesting four tournaments throughout the season for our 10-12U teams; Memorial Day, July 4th and the next two weekends in July but these decisions rest with each levels coaching staff and parents. At 8 and 9U we are looking at 2 tournaments. We are suggesting 5-10 single games in addition. Again, these individual games are created as true training sessions.

The cost of Travel Lite is $350 for 10-12U and $190 for 8 and 9U. This fee provides uniforms and all tournament and umpire fees.

If anyone has additional questions in regards to our philosophy here or any other questions, don't hesitate to let us know!
